High availability can be different when in a virtual environment. Attendees will learn the pros and cons of running SQL Server clusters or AlwaysOn Availability Groups in a virtual environment. We will compare all of the different high availability options between all of available technologies, discuss how features of VMware and Hyper-V are impacted, and share how to work with the administrators of virtual environment. We will walk through all of the storage options to determine which one is the best fit. We will review key settings and configurations for the virtual platform, the virtual machine, and SQL Server, and show which need to be set to ensure proper performance.
